Hello America Post #5

“Tonight is going to be very cold night, Elli. Do you want me to come and keep you warm in your bed,” said Oded jokingly. Pg. 196, Paragraph 2
Elli was at camp for the first time and was in a really good mood. Elli was joking around and Oded had just offered her his jacket. It was kind of a weird comment, but I think that it was just a joke.
I remember the first time I went to camp and was really nervous. Instead of being quiet I met a few friends and started joking around with them.
Why did Oded say that weird comment to Elli?

“Tomorrow we have field trips-I may not be able to come. I’ll try. If I can’t, I’ll make sure someone else will.” Pg. 201, Paragraph 7
Elli is at the hospital, recovering from a severe gall bladder infection. She is a camp counselor and cares a lot about her campers. She is a great person and is also a very caring person which is a great trait to have.
Elli is the main character and is also my favorite in the book. She cares about her family and is very happy that she came to America.
Why was her pain so sudden?
